Roblox Rainbow Friends makes hiding in a box feel scary fun
9 July 2026
A kid friendly AxelGamer look at Roblox Rainbow Friends, with Chapter 1, Blue, box hiding, collecting blocks, teamwork, jump scares, and colourful spooky chaos.
Roblox has heaps of games where you run around, collect stuff, and try not to get caught, but Rainbow Friends makes that idea feel extra funny and creepy at the same time. It is not the kind of horror game that looks super realistic or too grown up. It is colourful, weird, and full of silly monsters with big faces, which somehow makes it scarier because you do not expect bright colours to chase you down a hallway.
Rainbow Friends was made by Roy and Charcle on Roblox. The Roblox page says it was supposed to be a normal field trip, but then the Rainbow Friends want to play. That is already a great setup because a school trip sounds normal, then suddenly everything goes wrong. Chapter 1 came out in 2021, and Chapter 2 came later in 2023, so the game has been around for ages in Roblox time. I can see why people still play it, because it is easy to understand but still makes you panic.
The main thing I like is that the game does not start with a giant confusing tutorial. You get sent into the place, and then you have to find blocks and bring them back. That sounds simple, but it does not feel simple when Blue is stomping around nearby. In the AxelGamer video, the best part is hearing Blue before seeing him. You are trying to be brave, then suddenly you hear something and your brain goes, nope, box time.
The box hiding idea is probably the funniest thing in the whole game. Instead of having a sword or a giant blaster, you survive by pretending to be a box. That is so Roblox in the best way. You can be walking along with blocks, hear Blue, and instantly hide under cardboard like that is a totally normal survival plan. It makes every hallway feel like a dare. Do I keep running and risk it, or do I hide and hope nobody notices me sitting there like a suspicious parcel?
Blue is a good first monster because he is not too complicated, but he still feels dangerous. He wanders around looking for players, and if he gets you, that is basically the end of your brave moment. I like that he is big and easy to recognise, because younger players can understand the danger straight away. You do not need a huge explanation. Big blue monster nearby means hide or run. Simple rules make the game better because all the excitement comes from what players do.
Collecting the blocks is also clever because it makes everyone spread out. If everyone stayed in one safe spot, the game would be boring. Instead, the blocks are hidden around different rooms, and someone has to be brave enough to go looking. You might find a block and feel proud for two seconds, then realise you still have to carry it back without getting caught. That turns a tiny job into a proper mission.
Teamwork matters too, even if everyone is panicking. One player might find the last block while someone else is hiding. Another player might know the map better and head straight for the theatre. Sometimes people get caught, and then the rest of the group has to keep going. That makes it feel like a Roblox adventure you can talk about afterwards. It is not just winning or losing. It is the story of who screamed, who hid too early, who got brave, and who somehow found the last item.
I reckon Rainbow Friends works because it is spooky without needing to be gross or too intense. There are jump scares and chase moments, so little kids should still check with their parents if they do not like scary games. But the style is more cartoon creepy than nightmare creepy. The monsters look like strange mascots from a theme park that went wrong, which is exactly why it sticks in your head.
The map is another part that makes it fun. There are doors, rooms, tunnels, and places where you think you are safe until you hear footsteps. When a game has a map like that, learning the layout feels powerful. At first you are lost and hiding every few seconds. After a while, you start remembering where things are, where the theatre is, and which way might get you back faster. That makes you feel like you are actually getting better, not just being lucky.
I also like that Rainbow Friends is good for videos because it creates funny reactions. Watching someone go quiet because they hear Blue is hilarious. Then they whisper or panic and put the box on, even if Blue is not that close. It is the kind of game where the fear and the comedy happen together. You can be scared and laughing at the same time, which is one of my favourite types of Roblox chaos.
If I was giving tips, I would say do not be greedy. If you have blocks and hear Blue, just hide or take another path. Also, try to learn the rooms instead of running randomly, because random running usually turns into accidental monster delivery. And if your friends are playing, talk to each other. Saying where blocks are or where Blue is can save heaps of time.
Rainbow Friends is not the newest Roblox game anymore, but it still has that classic Roblox feeling where a simple idea becomes really exciting with friends. It has collecting, hiding, monsters, silly panic, and the greatest survival tool ever invented, which is apparently a cardboard box. I would play it when I want something spooky but still fun, especially with friends who make funny noises when Blue appears. That is when Rainbow Friends is at its best, because the real chaos is not just the monster. It is everyone trying to stay calm and failing.
