Minecraft brewing cheat sheet showing nineteen potion recipes, starting bottles, ingredients, normal timers, redstone extensions and glowstone upgrades
Original AxelGamer chart. The purple rows use a different starting bottle; J = Java, B = Bedrock, and — means no upgrade.

Recipes at a glance

Fuel the brewing stand with blaze powder. Most recipes start with water bottles + nether wart → Awkward Potion. One ingredient brews up to three bottles at once.

Craft the stand with one blaze rod and three cobblestone. Three glass blocks craft three bottles. Fermented spider eye = spider eye + sugar + brown mushroom.

Three things to remember

  • Awkward first: water bottle + nether wart makes the base for most recipes. Weakness starts directly from a water bottle instead.
  • Choose time or strength: redstone extends a supported potion; glowstone strengthens a supported potion. You cannot combine both upgrades.
  • Change the form last: add gunpowder for a splash potion, then dragon’s breath for a lingering potion.

The table uses drinkable bottle timers, displayed as minutes:seconds. Java and Bedrock share these ingredient paths; J and B mark different timers for Regeneration and Poison. Splash and lingering potions have different delivered durations, so check their tooltips and remember that splash impact distance matters. Bedrock also supports potion-filled cauldrons; Java does not.

Turtle Master trades movement speed for protection: normal gives Resistance III and Slowness IV; its enhanced version gives Resistance IV and Slowness VI. The four Tricky Trials recipes need Minecraft 1.21 or later. This reference covers vanilla Survival brewing; Mundane and Thick potions have no useful effect-potion branch, and Luck and Decay cannot be brewed in Survival.

Recipe sources and checks

Ingredients and conversion rules were checked against Mojang and Microsoft references. Bottle timers and edition differences were cross-checked with the Minecraft Wiki. Times use the displayed bottle timer, rather than fractional internal ticks.
