How to Put a Sulfur Cube in a Bucket
8 October 2026
Use an empty bucket directly on a Sulfur Cube to collect it. Java 26.2 explicitly requires a large cube; feed Slime Balls to a small cube so it grows first. Bedrock 26.30 confirms bucket transport, but its final changelog does not list the size prerequisite.
Step by step
- Take an empty bucket into a sulfur cave.
- Find a large Sulfur Cube and clear nearby hostile mobs.
- If the cube is small, give it Slime Balls until it becomes large.
- Move close enough to interact and use the bucket on the cube.
- Check your inventory for the Bucket of Sulfur Cube.
- At home, use the filled bucket where you want the cube released.
A dispenser can also release a Sulfur Cube from its bucket, which helps if you are building an automatic test chamber.
Why is the bucket not working?
Check these common problems:
- The cube is too small: use Slime Balls first.
- The bucket contains water, lava or powder snow: it must be empty.
- TNT inside the cube is already primed: Java 26.2 specifically prevents bucket collection once absorbed TNT is lit.
- You are too far away: move closer and aim at the cube itself.
- Your game is not updated: Chaos Cubed requires Java 26.2 or Bedrock 26.30 or later.
If the cube has an ordinary absorbed block, try shearing the block out before collecting it if you are having trouble controlling the mob. Never chase a TNT-loaded cube through your base.
Safest way to take it home
The bucket is safer than trying to bounce or slide the cube across rough terrain. Keep it in a labelled chest until you have built a fenced area. Place the release point away from pets, villagers, lava and redstone that could accidentally power TNT.
